The Address Field

The
Address field
is a single octet (eight bits) with the binary sequence of 11111111 (0xff
hexadecimal). This is known as the All-Station Address because PPP does not assign individual
station addresses. The field is included to allow addressing; however, as inferred by the
term
point-to-point
, the destination is always the opposite end of the link.
