DSSS is an acronym for direct-sequence spread spectrum, which
employs frequency-spreading spread spectrum. DSSS is a transmission

technology used in LAWN transmissions where a data signal at the
sending station is joined with a higher data rate bit sequence or chipping
code, which slices the user data according to a spreading ratio. The
chipping code is a redundant bit pattern for each bit transmitted. This
increases the signal’s resistance to interference. Should one or more bits
in the pattern be damaged during transmission, the original data can be
recovered because of the amount of increased redundancy of the transmission.
