Protection

You can take special steps to protect yourself against the possibility of
any wireless laptop being used against you. You need to implement
encryption to limit the eavesdropping attempts against your network
communications. Some companies use a special VPN link that changes
its value every minute or two. If someone steals your laptop, it wouldn’t
do the hacker any good to try to access any network resources without
the proper decryption device to log into your network.

Eavesdropping attempts on a wireless network can take place from
areas that are in range of the access point, but the risk rises significantly
when there aren’t any enabled encryption parameters set for the access
point itself. Hackers are looking for devices that don’t even have basic
protection settings enabled, because they are the easiest to break into.
